Adobe Firefly
Commercial-safe AI images & video for designers.
What is Adobe Firefly?
Adobe Firefly is Adobe's generative AI for images and video, designed to be commercially safe and on-brand. Firefly 4 (July 2026) adds a 'Style Match' feature and Firefly Video clips up to 60 seconds.
It's integrated across Photoshop, Express and the Adobe apps.
Firefly earns its place when the image has to be used commercially and a brand or client will ask where it came from. Adobe trained it on licensed and public-domain material and ships it inside Photoshop and Express, so a designer can generate, extend or replace part of an image without leaving the file they are already working in.
It is weaker as a standalone creative engine. For striking, stylised art from a blank prompt it tends to produce safer, more stock-like results than Midjourney, and the most useful parts of it sit inside paid Adobe apps rather than the free web version.
If commercial safety is not the question and you simply want the most striking image, Midjourney is the stronger pick. If you are not already in the Adobe ecosystem, Canva gets most small-business design work done with less to learn.
Pros
- Commercially safe outputs
- Style Match keeps brand consistency
