ChatGPT is OpenAI's AI assistant for writing, coding, research, images and everyday questions. It runs on the GPT models and is the most-used AI app worldwide.

The free tier is capable; ChatGPT Plus adds the best models, image generation and higher limits.

ChatGPT is the general-purpose default: drafting and editing text, explaining a concept at different levels, working through code, summarising a long document, brainstorming options. Its strength is range — it is rarely the single best tool for a narrow job, but it is competent at almost all of them, and the free tier is usable for real work.

It is weak exactly where it sounds most confident. It states invented statistics, citations and India-specific details — exam rules, scheme names, legal provisions — with the same certainty as correct ones, so anything factual needs checking. Unedited, its writing also has a recognisable over-formal register.

When you need the source rather than the answer, Perplexity is better built for it. For long documents and careful analysis many people prefer Claude, and for Hindi and tight Google-app integration Gemini is often the stronger free choice.
