A Free AI Setup for an Indian College Student: What Still Works in October 2026

aicreatorhub.netGuide

A year ago you could have built this list from any YouTube video. Now half of those 'free for students' tips are out of date: the ChatGPT Go free year is closed, GitHub changed what students get with Copilot, and Google's Pro offer became an AI Plus one. Here is what we could confirm in October 2026, in the order I would set it up.

1. Claim Google AI Plus before 31 December

It is free for 12 months for eligible students in India, but only until 31 December 2026, so it is the one with a deadline. You will need to verify as a student and add a payment method, and it can start charging after the year. Details and the renewal catch are in our post on the offer.

2. Apply for the GitHub Student Developer Pack

You need to be at least 13 and enrolled in a degree or diploma course. What matters for AI is GitHub Copilot Student: unlimited code completions, a monthly allowance of GitHub AI credits, and limited chat and agent use. That is not the same as the full paid Copilot plan, and older posts that say 'Copilot Pro is free for students' are describing a plan GitHub replaced in March 2026.

The pack also lists Microsoft 365 with Copilot and 1 TB of storage, the Notion Education plan with extra AI responses, and a free Camber student plan for data-science work.

3. Ask your college about Adobe

Adobe announced in February 2026 that students in India can get Firefly, Photoshop and Acrobat free, plus training and credentials. The catch is that access goes through accredited institutions, so you can't sign up on your own. Ask your IT or placement cell whether your college has joined. If it hasn't, it is worth a polite email, because colleges often join when enough students ask.

4. Use the free tiers properly

ChatGPT's free plan, Gemini's free tier, Microsoft Copilot and Meta AI inside WhatsApp are good enough for most coursework. ChatGPT Voice now speaks Hindi, which makes it a decent way to practise spoken English out loud. Try our spoken English practice prompt.

What I'd skip

  • Any site selling a 'student account' or 'lifetime AI access'. It breaks the provider's rules and the account can be shut.
  • Any promo code that asks for your card or an OTP. The offers above don't use codes at all.
  • The ChatGPT Go free year. It closed on 21 January 2026. Here is what that means if you already claimed it.

All of these, with who qualifies and the date each one was last checked, are on the free AI offers page.

Frequently asked questions

Is GitHub Copilot free for students in 2026?

Verified students get GitHub Copilot Student through the Student Developer Pack: unlimited code completions, a monthly AI-credits allowance and limited chat and agent use. It is not the full paid plan.

How do I get Adobe Photoshop free as a student in India?

Adobe's February 2026 announcement says access runs through accredited higher-education institutions, so ask your college whether it has joined the programme.

Do I need a promo code for any of these?

No. They are claimed through an account, verification or your college. None of the providers publishes a code.
