Who can claim it
You need to be 18 or older and enrolled at an eligible higher-education institution. Google may ask you to verify through SheerID, which usually means proving you are a student with your college email or an enrolment document. You also need a personal Google account (not a college-managed one) and a valid payment method on file.
The payment method surprises people. Free does not mean no card. Google asks for one so it can charge you later if you don't cancel.
The part to read twice
When the 12 months end, the subscription can switch over to the normal monthly price automatically. That is how most of these offers work, and it is why they are cheap for Google to give away. If you don't want to pay, cancel before the date, not after the first charge.
Free AI Plus is not free AI Pro
Some older posts and YouTube videos still talk about a free Google AI Pro year for Indian students. The offer in the Business Today report is different: AI Plus is free for 12 months, and AI Pro is discounted by up to 74% for four years, not free. Check which plan the page you are on is actually offering before you enter any details.
